Legend of Nightfall (Book fan art)

Description

Sorry kids, it's not DresdenFiles. But it's still dorky book fanart! When you're not up for anything useful or interesting like Stephenson and just want to rot your brain, there's always early 90's pulp fantasy writing to keep a bookgeek company. The concept's simple: chain a high-level rogue to a low-level paladin, and see if they can survive to the end of the book. This whole narrative feels like you're playing a fantastic game of D&D with four close friends, and everyone's taking it only just barely seriously.

[Edit: It really, really needs to be pointed out that this book is not full of deft turns of phrase, clever dialog, or well-presented character development. Commas appear to be randomly scattered about like ants at a picnic, and names have been created using extra Ks and lots of unecessisary puns and y's. Still, this book and its sequel are hilarious fun for ME. Do not pick this up expecting Name of the Wind or Lies of Lock Lamora.]

(If anyone's looking for light summer reading, the ultimate extreme goofiness of this genre is Villains By Necessity, by Eve Forward.)

I was itching to sketch this for a while, since the actual coverart for the book is beautiful, but...well...not so much how I see the characters. Salute to Jody Lee anyway, though-- her art is always fantastic!
